Tsutsugamushi fever (scrub typhus) is an infectious disease that is endemic in South, East and Southeast Asia, Oceania and Northern Australia – the Tsutsugamushi Triangle.
Abstract
Tsutsugamushi fever is an infectious disease that is spread in South, East, Southeast Asia, Oceania and Northern Australia and the causal agent is Orientia tsutsugamushi. Affected are the local population and tourists. The infectious disease is serious because it can lead to death if left untreated. Characteristic, in addition to the sudden onset of illness with fever, is the formation of an eschar at the site of the mite bite through which the infecting bacteria are transmitted.
