Predisposing factors that favor the onset of parasitic phase versicolor in the form of pityriasis are: a warm and humid climate, occlusion, profuse sweating and an increased production of talc skin. Pityriasis versicolor is characterized by multiple, often longlasting, partly confluent lesions. Mainly adolescents and younger adults are affected. The malassezia (pityrosporum) folliculitis is also caused by the furfur malassezia sprouting and is found almost exclusively in patients with compromised immune system. Clinically, there are small, inflamed, reddened papules and follicular papulopustules, especially on the trunk (chest and back), which can cause a pronounced itching.
